Bernice R. Lewis 1934 - 2014
Bernice R. Lewis, 80, former resident of Howland Township, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Cortland Healthcare.
She was born on April 5, 1934 in Pine Bluff, West Virginia the daughter of Wilbert and Julia Marie (Palmer) Quinn. Bernice grew up in Shinnston, W. Virginia.
She married the love of her life, Henry M. Lewis, on June 30, 1951.
Mrs. Lewis was a devoted and loving, mother and grandmother. She loved cooking for her family and enjoyed bowling, sewing and crafts. Bernice was a member of Glenn Christian Church.
She is survived by her children, Dianna (Michael) Sanders, Donna (John) Sprague and Darrell (Roxsane) Lewis; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Rachael, Samantha, Matthew, Ryan and Gianna; great-grandchildren, Evy and Chase; sisters, Wilberta, Nancy, Frances, and Sue; and brother, Roger.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry M. Lewis on October 25, 1998; brother, Richard; and sister, Gloria.
Private family services were held. She was buried beside her husband at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cortland Healthcare and Hospice of the Valley for the excellent care and kindness they gave to our mother.
