1934 - 2016

Warren-Carol Jean Walters, 81, died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Autumn Hills Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born December 8, 1934 in Warren, Ohio. She was the daughter of Ellen Louise Stevenson and William Phillips.

She was employed by Youngstown City Schools for 25 years as a dedicated music teacher. After retiring, she continued to substitute teach in local schools.

Carol was a devoted private piano teacher throughout her career. She belonged to numerous piano music clubs and organizations. Her passion and dedication for music encouraged and nurtured those lives that she touched throughout her whole life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, George Walters.

Survivors include her son, Rik (Dorie) Kinney of Glendale, California: daughters, Chris (George) Nemitz of Cortland; Brenda (Mark) Best of Cortland; Darcy Kinney of Huntsville, Alabama; and Jill (Frank) Kinney Henderson of Napa, California.

Surviving grandchildren include Calyn (Jesse) Reinhart of Verdugo, California, Nathaniel (Becca) Haynie of Columbiana; Corie (Jason Lam-fiancé) Haynie of Skokie, Illinois; Erin (Donald) Whistler of Girard; David (Jessica) Best of Red Springs, NC; Brianna Best of NY, NY; Danielle Best of Cortland; and nine great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, Monday, February 15, at the Chapel in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, Ohio. Services will follow and relatives are welcome to attend. Pastor Joseph Sheely will officiate the services.
