Donald was born in Travers City, Michigan on March 15, 1940, the son of Arthur H. and Jean Lee Cook Thomas.

He drove a truck for 40 years, 27 of which he worked at Yellow Freight, where he retired in 2003.

Donald enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening. He was an active member of the ITAM 29 and the Slovak Club. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Carol (Reilly) Thomas, and his children, Donald A. (Barbara) Thomas Jr. of Vienna, Richard (Zeke) E. Thomas of Warren, Robert (Barbara) Michael of Cortland, William (Patti) Michael of Hollywood, FL, and Jonathon Michael of Warren; Dawn Marie Thomas of Muskegon, MI, Vicky Lynn (Hershel) Whitt of Greene Township, Heidi (David) Huffman of Champion, Carrie (Ronald) Grim of Howland; sisters, Nancy (Jim) Sanfrey, Cathy (Bill) Smith, Mary (Lane) Overfield; brothers, Alton (Sue) Thomas and Phillip Thomas. Also surviving Donald are 23 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Jean Thomas and brother, Jerry Thomas.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm and from 10 to 11 am Thursday at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna, The funeral service will be 11 am Thursday following the calling hours.

Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park.
