1922 - 2016

Cortland - Dorothy S. Copeland, 94, of Cortland, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016, at her home, with her family by her side.

Dorothy was born in Wellman, IA, January 20, 1922, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Entsminger) Seitsinger.

She graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1940.

Dorothy was a homemaker, and before marrying, she worked for Burgeson and Packer, certified public accountants.

On January 10, 1948, she married William C. Copeland.

Dorothy enjoyed reading, working word search puzzles and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved her desserts and usually ate them before her dinner.

She is survived by sons, Ron (Marlene) Copeland, of Searcy, AR, Jim (Linise) Copeland of Atwater, MN; daughters, Betty Robbins and Rose Copeland, both from Cortland; grandchildren, Aaron Copeland, Andrea Copeland-Harper, Lyndi Schrecengost Doneyko, Brad Schrecengost, Dana Schrecengost, Emily Schrecengost, Eric Schrecengost, Jessica Eckenrod, Jordyn Copeland, Tyler Copeland and seven great-grandchildren. Dorothy also leaves behind a brother, Ralph Seitsinger of El Paso, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill, who passed away August 7, 1991; a son, William H. Copeland; and a granddaughter, Alexandria Copeland. Also preceding her were brothers, Robert, Frank and Joseph; and a sister, Lucille.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with a celebration of life to begin at 2:00 pm, at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna. In lieu of wearing dark clothes, the family has asked that people wear happy clothes for Dorothy, if possible.

Services will be held Thursday, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Crown Hill's Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service.
