1917 - 2010

Dorothy M. Smith, nee Hardwick, of West Bend, formerly of Cortland, OH, died on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at The Kathy Hospice at the age of 93 years. She was born on May 23, 1917 in Buffalo, NY.

As a young child, the family moved to Ohio, living in Mineral Ridge. On January 26, 1938, she was united in marriage to William R. Smith in West Virginia. William predeceased February 25, 2005. About 10 years ago, Dorothy and William moved to West Bend to be closer to family. Her giving spirit will be dearly missed. Survivors include a daughter Janine Roman of West Bend; five grandsons Ryan, Kevin and Brandon Roman and Robert "Robbie" and Daniel Smith; a sister-in-law Maxine Smith of Ohio; other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Dale and her parents William and Martha (nee Gradwell) Hardwick. Visitation will be from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, with the funeral service at 11:00 am Wednesday, at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.

Burial will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park.
