McDonald - George M. Bucan, 73, of McDonald, died Monday, September 15, 2014 at Shepherd of the Valley in Niles.
George was born February 22, 1941 in Youngstown, the son of Mike and Sophia (Mikacinich) Bucan.
He was a graduate of McDonald High School and later served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1967.
George was employed by Packard Electric for 30 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the Amvets in Vienna, and the Naus Club. He served as a union representative, and was a past president of the Ohio Labor Press Assoc.
George was a long time baseball and softball coach and played in various bowling leagues, was an avid Cleveland sports fan. His greatest passion was attending his grand-children's sporting events.
George leaves behind a son, George Jr. (Maryann) of McDonald; a daughter, Christine (Chip) Nietert of McDonald; sisters, Katherine (Gib) Woods of Williamsfield, Bernice (Joe) Kren of Girard and Teresa (Larry) Linton of Northfield; grandchildren, Austin and Jack; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for George will be Saturday, from 12:30 pm till 2 pm, with the service to follow at 2pm, at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.
Selby Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
