WARREN - Helen J. Rattay, 92, longtime resident of Warren, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Community Skilled Nursing Home.
Helen was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Castle Shanon, Pa., the daughter of Joseph and Michelina Zadroz Wenckoski.
She graduated from Bellaire High School.
Mrs. Rattay was employed with the A&P for 24 years as well as AVI and Convenient before retiring.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed crafts, ceramics, crocheting and reading.
Helen is survived by her son, Robert (Nancy) Rattay of Warren; daughters, Joyce Evans of Newton Falls and Rita Chegar of Warren; daughter-in-law, Sheryl Rattay of Champion; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas Rattay; brothers, Walter, Casimir, Stan and James Wenckoski; and her sisters, Stella Perunko and Lucille Barnes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Bernard R. Schmalzried officiating at the Crown Hill Burial Park and Mausoleum, 3966 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna. The family will receive friends from noon until time of services at 2 p.m.
Should friends desire, memorials in memory of Helen may be given to the St. Mary's Catholic Church, 232 Seneca St. N.E., Warren, OH 44481.
