Cortland - Helen J. (June) Yovich, 88, of Cortland, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Clare Bridge of Austintown.
June was born July 21, 1923 in Cortland, Ohio, the daughter of Louis and Suzanne (Blasko) Smelko. She had lived in Cortland her entire life.
During World War II, June worked for the Federal Government at the Ration Board in Cortland. After the war, she worked for American Welding in their accounting department. She retired from Trumbull Memorial Hospital after 15 years of working in their insurance department.
Mrs. Yovich enjoyed playing cards, auto racing and boating. She was a member of the Pymatuning Outboard Motor Club.
Survivors include a son, George (Patricia) Yovich, Jr. Of Cortland; daughter Judith (Herbert) Yovich Shewman of Scottsdale, AZ; three grandchildren, Jessica Yovich of Chicago, and Whitney Birch and Courtney Bennett, both of Indianapolis, IN; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, whom she married April 10, 1948, who passed away August 22, 2010; four brothers and three sisters.
Private services were held Friday, at Selby Funeral Home Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna, and entombment was made in Crown Hill Burial Park.
