John T. Muldowney 1939 - 2014

LIBERTY – John Thomas Muldowney, 74, passed away on January 6, 2014 at Briarfield Manor of Austintown after a short illness.

He was born December 14, 1939 in Sharon, PA, the son of Paul and Thelma (Prendergast) Muldowney.

John worked for Wheatland Tube for 31 years. In his younger days, John was an avid hunter and bowler. He also enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians. John served his country in the US Navy abound the USS Galveston, from 1957 to 1960.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, two daughters, Yvette Wasko and her husband John Wasko of Liberty, and Justine Muldowney and her fiancé Andrew Munera and his daughter, Peyton of Canfield. He also leaves four grandchildren, Emma, Ellie, Olivia and Andrew, and his four-legged friend Tootsie Roll. He also leaves his former wife, Martha Muldowney of Liberty and his caregiver, Patti Hedwall. He leaves one sister, Alice Reiner of Sharon, PA and many nieces, nephews and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul, and four sisters, Joanne, Rosalie, Jean and Mary Jane.

A mass of Christian burial will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 343 Via Mt. Carmel Ave., Youngstown, OH on Monday January 13, 2014 at 10:00 AM, with The Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio, celebrating mass. Friends and family may call one hour before the service at the church and are invited to Mt. Carmel's social hall for a luncheon following the mass.

John's family would like to thank all the staff at Northside Medical Center, Hospice House in Poland and also Briarfield Manor in Austintown for the kind and professional care he received.

In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made in John's name to Animal Charity Humane Society, 4140 Market St. Boardman, OH 44512.
