Windham - Norman (Stormin Norman) R. Martin, 72, died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at his residence.
Norman was born July 5, 1943, in Warren, the son of Ralph and Lenabelle "Pettit" Martin.
He graduated from Lakeview High School in Cortland and later served in the U.S. Army overseas.
Norman later served 17 years as a police officer in Cortland and Windham Village, where he was a Sergeant.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 529, Past Patron of OPAL Chapter 181, a member of Valley of Canton Scottish Rite, and was a member of the Shriners. He also was a life time member of the Windham American Legion and was the Windham Lions Club treasurer.
Norman leaves behind his wife, Diana Hilton-Martin, who he married on July, 1967; two sons, Grant R. (Rouen) Martin and Lance Martin both of Windham; a brother, Marlin "Boots" (Karen) Martin of Brookfield; and a sister, Debbie (David) Beltz of Cortland. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A sister, Gloria, preceded Norman in death.
Visitation will be held Thursday, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm, at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.
Entombment will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna, Ohio 44473.
Norman was a 17 year heart transplant survivor, so the family requests that any contributions be sent to the American Heart Association: American Heart Association, 5455 N. High Street Columbus, OH 43214.
