CORTLAND - Richard G. "Buzz" Hyatt, 84, of Cortland, died Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the Eagle Point Nursing Home in Orwell, OH.
He was born October 7, 1931 in Winthrop, Maine, a son of Frank H. Hyatt and Alice Anderson Hyatt.
Richard attended Youngstown State University and served in the United States Air Force for four years of active duty and 36 years in the Air Force Reserve. He reached the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.
He was employed for 34 years with the East Ohio Gas Co. in Warren. Richard was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club for Generosity and Devotions for Veterans. He was a Red Cross Blood Donor and a member of Pleasant Valley Church in Niles, and he enjoyed ballroom dancing, golf, landscaping, and singing in shows at the Packard Music Hall.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Marie (Durant) Hyatt whom he married February 17, 1974; a son Frank (Angie) Hyatt of Cortland, a son, Richard R. (Myrna) Hyatt of Fairview Hgts., IL; and a son, Paul B. Hyatt of Mascoutah, IL. He also leaves behind three stepdaughters, Kathy M. (Alex) Boyd of Warren; Lora Jean Detoro of Niles; and Wendy Bridgen of Niles, OH; a sister Mary Hall of Atlanta, GA; and a sister Gladys Blanchard of Winthrop, ME. Left to cherish his memory are also twenty grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Frank Hyatt, and sisters Alice McLaughlin, Alma Bockley, Teresa Goodson, Marion Cobb and Margery Bellemare.
The calling hours are being held at the Pleasant Valley Church, 2055 Pleasant Valley Rd. in Niles from 4PM to 6PM on Wednesday, March 30th. Thursday, March 31st viewing will be from 10AM until 11AM, with Pastor William Sawtelle conducting the funeral service at 11AM.

Entombment will be in the Crown Hill Mausoleum in Vienna, OH.
