Howland - Richard L. Tonkovich, 81, of Port St. Lucie, FL, died Friday, October 31, 2014 at his family's residence in Howland.
Richard was born December 24, 1932 in Baxter, W.VA, the son of Luke and Mary (Shimko) Tonkovich.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Richard was an electrician by trade.
Richard was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Ohio State Buckeyes and West Virginia Mountaineers. In his high school and college days he excelled in multiple sports including football, basketball, baseball and boxing.
He was passionate about developing real estate as a legacy to his youngest son, Gregory, who passed away early in life.
Richard leaves behind the love of his life, Beverly Ann; sons, William of Niles, Richard Andrew of Plano, TX, Timothy of Orlando, FL, Michael of Cortland and Joseph of Howland; a daughter, Kimberly of Howland; a brother, Joseph and six sisters, Anne, Liz, Millie, Josephine, Doris and Shirley; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He will be reunited with his youngest son, Gregory, and his other family members including his brother Luke Jr. who preceded Richard in death.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 1 to 3 pm with the funeral service to begin at 3 pm, at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna. Officiating will be Pastor Cathy Ake.
Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park.
