Robert E. Franks 1924 - 2011
Robert E. Franks, 86, died Sunday, November 6, 2011, at his residence.
Robert was born November, 30, 1924 in Warren, the son of Leland and Cleo (Rupert) Franks.
He served in the US Army as an x-ray technician in Waco, TX.
Robert received a Bachelor's degree from GMI and was an engineer at Packard Electric for 45 years. His work and innovations in the wiring industry made him one of the most prominent in his area of expertise. Robert was also highly thought of in the Wire Association.
A life long area resident, Robert enjoyed golf, flying, was an avid race fan and was active in the Drum and Fiddle Dance Club. He was the ultimate handyman, and friends called on him to fix everything.
Robert was a member and former deacon of the First Presbyterian Church.
Robert loved his family, grandchildren and many friends. This year he celebrated 62 years of marriage to his wife Maxine.
Besides his wife, Maxine (McKay) Franks, Robert leaves behind his three sons, Robert S. Franks of Ft. Lauderdale, William L. (Jeanette) Franks of Warren and James D. (Lisa) Franks of Cortland; his brother, Rupert Franks of NY.; his sister, Jane Franks of Warren; and his grandchildren, Gibbons, Robert and Natalie Franks.
Robert's parents and brother, Leland, preceded him in death.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with the funeral service at 1:00 pm at Roberts-Clark Funeral Home in Warren. Pastor Dan Barker will officiate.
Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
