Warren - Stephen Q. Leigh, 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
He was born on November 6, 1932 in Buckhannon, W. V., son of J.W. Leigh and Mollie Gooden Leigh. Stephen graduated from Warren G. Harding High School. He was a machine operator for Packard Electric for 45 years, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Leigh was a member of the Trumbull County Rod & Gun Club. He also played Class AA baseball for Charlie Caffie, where he pitched against Satchel Paige.
Mr. Leigh attended Calvary Bible Church where he enjoyed ushering and greeting. He also loved golfing, hunting, bowling, fishing, gardening and enjoyed traveling.
Mr. Leigh is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary (Fumerola) Leigh, whom he married on April 5, 1953. He leaves behind one son, Stephen W. (Peggy) of Warren, three daughters, Darlene F. (William) Davis of Warren, Tammy J. Hogan of Wilmore, KY and Judy A. (Jan) Staley of Magnolia, OH., and a sister, Virginia Stalnaker of Bradenton, FL. Also surviving are two grandsons, two granddaughters, one great grandson, four step grandsons, two step granddaughters and numerous step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sisters Geraldine Lewis, Evangeline Derico, Evelyn Collins, Masie Rogers, and a brother James Leigh, and a granddaughter, Tiffanie Gil.
Calling hours will be held Friday, March 4, 2016 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Calvary Bible Church, 4747 Warren Rd. NE, Cortland, OH 44410. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, March 5 at 11 A.M. with visitation from 10 to 11 A.M. Services conducted by Pastor Rick Reynolds and Chris Morrison,
Memorial tributes may be given to Calvary Bible Church.
Internment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park.
Selby Funeral Home, in Vienna, was entrusted with arrangements.
