1913 - 2011

Howland - Theodore J. Moran, Sr. 97, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland.

Mr. Moran was born November 7, 1913 in Sharpsville, PA, the son of Dominic and Mary Moran.

He was a graduate of Sharon High School.

Mr. Moran served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a prisoner of war and survived the Bataan Death March in the Philippines. Mr. Moran was awarded the Bronze Star on Veteran's Day in 2009.

He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Church.

Mr. Moran leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Beatrice (Yannesse) Moran, on January 12, 1951; a son, Theodore (Nancy) Moran, Jr. of Cincinnati; a daughter, Cindy (Jay) Gilson of Bazetta; two sisters, Elizabeth Goodrich of Cleveland, OH and Mary Jane Moran of Sharon; grandchildren, Brian Gilson of Nashville, TN, Jenna Gilson of Bazetta and Michael Moran on Cincinnati.

Preceding Mr. Moran in death are four brothers, Carmelo, Mike, Pat and Joe Moran; a sister Rose Moran.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 - 7 pm at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Vienna, at 10 am Thursday morning. Burial will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park.
