William W. Jones 1928 - 2011

WARREN - William R. Jones, 83, of Warren passed away early Monday morning, Nov. 21, 2011, at his residence.

William was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Warren, the son of the late Russell and Viva Eastlake Jones.

He retired from Copperweld Steel as a roller after 35 years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII.

Bill was an avid golfer and belonged to Bristolwood Golf Course and also was a past governor of Cortland Moose Lodge #1012 and Farmington VFW Post 7200.

His wife, Dorothy, preceded him in death, along with a son William R. Jones and a sister Edith Pipenauer.

Surviving are two daughters, Wanda Jones Shadix of Georgia and Brenda Jones of California; and a sister, Ella Fillyaw of Florida; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves his companion of 20 years, Lawanna (Lou) Osborne of Warren. Extended family also include John and Marylou Osborne, Melinda and Mark Tricker and Carla and Alex Papiernik and families.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at Crown Hill Masoleum Chapel, where friends may call 11 a.m to noon on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are being accepted in Bill's memory to the Hope Center for Cancer, 835 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, Ohio 44514.
